Best Places for Whisky in Glasgow

Jan 5, 2018

Scotland and whisky, inseparable through the ages. The nation’s favourite drink (or maybe that’s Iron-Bru) is something of an art form. As you’d expect, Glasgow has more than a few spots to sink a dram.

Check out some of our favourite places for whisky in Glasgow:

As the name suggests, Dram! is a good shout for a good whisky in Scotland’s second city.

There’s a solid selection of whiskies behind the bar, alongside an array of local beers and brews.

A popular student spot, this cosy old-style pub always has something going on and is a great place to hang out.

The elegant and exclusive Hutchesons serves up some of the best steak and seafood in Glasgow.

A refined experience, they also offer a good dram. The upmarket Hutchesons is the only place in the UK to serve the full range of the tasty Glenfarcias family brew – how’s that for a one-off experience?

Glasgow City Centre Whisky Tour

We’re cheating here a little bit, as this is actually four bars. That said, the City Centre tour hits some of the best bars in town, plus you’ll get to sample an assortment of whisky from the best distillers around.

Tickets start at £49. Whilst it may not be the cheapest gig around, it is certainly the most fun and informative way to experience whisky in Glasgow.

The Pot Still

With over 700 whiskies in stock, it’s not surprising that The Pot Still is considered the Holy Grail of Glaswegian dram-drinking.

The pub’s reputation is something of a global phenomenon. 2016 winner of the Scottish Dram Awards Whisky Bar of the Year, legend has it that a group of Japanese businessmen flew over just to sample The Pot Still’s iconic drams.

The Ben Nevis

Named after one of Scotland’s most famous landmarks, there’s a mountain of choice at The Ben Nevis.

A proper Scottish drinking spot, the bar is full of bits and bots from the country’s long history.

You’re here for the juice though, and as you’d expect from a pub celebrating Scottish heritage, it isn’t a half bad way of experiencing whisky in Glasgow.

Òran Mór

Occupying an impressive former church building in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, Òran Mór has fast become a Glaswegian institution.

Stained glass windows, a beautifully painted Auditorium mural ceiling, and the occasional live music or theatre performance make this a watering hole with a difference.

Chuck in a dedicated whisky bar with over 280 malts and there’s no other venue you should be starting your night in.

The Bon Accord

Head out of the city centre and you’ll wander across this traditional drinking spot soon enough.

Bon Accord stocks over 350 whiskies to work your way through and employ knowledgeable staff to recommend them.
