Classic Cocktails in Southend

Jan 4, 2018

Southend-on-Sea, home of the longest pleasure pier in the world, also happens to be home to a decent cocktail bar or two.

Next time you’re heading out for a Friday drink, head to one of these swanky spots for some tasty beverages and some of the best cocktails in Southend:

Route5 Italian Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

An Italian restaurant by trade, that just so happens to have some of the best cocktails in town.

There’s a huge menu, with some Italian style treats thrown in. The food is reasonably priced to boot, so you can enjoy some fresh pasta with your classic negroni cocktail.

Henry Burgers

Speaking of the cocktail-food combo, Henry Burgers partner the best of meaty patties with delicious cocktail mixes.

Interesting combos abound on Henry’s menu. Here you can order an egg and lychee infused rum cocktail, or a vodka mix flavoured with pineapple, basil and agave.

East Coast Social

Rough and ready bar and grill that’s become a firm fixture for after-work Friday tipples.

The cocktail menu is as long as your arm and there’s usually a 2-4-1 on for that little bit of added value.

The Espresso Martinis are a standout, as is the non-alcoholic Mango Fizz mocktail.

The Vine Leigh

£8.50 a pop (as of 2017), The Vine Leigh has a simple but sweet range of classics and contemporary cocktails.

Sip on a raspberry and almond martini, or plumb for the more dessert-like Salted Caramel variety.

San Fairie Ann

Kitted out in the style of a Parisien cafe meets Aladdin’s Cave treasure trove, San Fairie Ann is one of the town’s premier spots where food and drink are concerned.

With a Michelin-baked chef in the kitchen, you’d expect the cocktails to rival the grub coming to your table.

The cocktails are as well-priced as you’ll find in Southend, with a host of classics to get stuck into.
