Where to Shop in Windsor
There’s no shortage of places to shop in Windsor – in fact, so numerous are the options for browsers, it can be hard to know where to go to make the most of your time.
It’s a safe bet, however, that your first stop should be the expansive Windsor Royal Shopping Centre, which is one of the town’s primary attractions and the chief shopping spot in the Royal Borough.
Occupying the impressive site of a 19th-century railway station, the cobbled streets of the covered shopping plaza make for a very atmospheric way to spend a morning.
Upmarket independents rub shoulders with high street favourites here and there is still a little history to the site too. Visitors can still view Queen Victoria’s royal waiting room next to the former railway platform.
Shoppers can make their selections from over 40 shops, as well as a range of continental-style restaurants, cafes, bars and a permanent arts and crafts market.
From Windsor Royal Shopping, head down into Windsor Yards, where quirky independents are nestled between swanky top-end high street stores. Here you’ll discover royal warrant holder Daniel of Windsor, a department store with a fantastic toy department.
You’ll find additional stores and outlets over on Peascod Street, a car-free road running directly opposite the mighty walls of the royal residence.
Lower Peascod Street boasts more independent shops and cafes and leads down to St Leonards Road, home to the monthly Farmers’ Market (first Saturday morning of the month).
Foodies will love perusing the seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as locally-sourced meats and freshly-baked bread and treats.
Shop for souvenirs and Scottish woollens in the cobbled streets around Guildhall Island, right across the road from the Castle’s Henry VIII Gateway.
Further independent shopping can be found across the river in neighbouring Eton, as well as in nearby towns and villages like Maidenhead, Ascot, Cookham and Sunningdale.
