Yorkshire is famous for the best curries in the country. With such a plethora of flavours and taste sensations to choose from, it can be hard to know where to go.

Something of a Yorkshire institution, Bengal Brasserie now has five outlets in the Leeds-York area.

The one on Roundhay Road, in north Leeds, is arguably the best of the lot. Kitted out in classic Indian curry house decor, this no-fuss Indian restaurant consistently racks up awards and tops fan favourite lists.

Tharavadu

Tharavadu brings a taste of Kerala to the streets of Leeds. The list of awards down at Tharavadu includes recommendations from The Times and the Michelin Restaurant Guide.

One of the most popular spots for a curry in Leeds, this restaurant stays true to its roots with a mighty seafood based menu straight from the coastal regions of Kerala.

If you aren’t a fan of curried sea bass or fresh crabs, however, there is still a wide selection of chicken, lamb and veg dishes to enjoy.

If vegetables are more your style then the award-winning Hansa’s is the place for you. Hansa’s has a history of serving up some of the finest animal-friendly Gujarati grub in a relaxed setting.

Swing by on a Sunday for a two-person £10.95pp buffet, or jump on one of the wonderful cookery classes if you want to learn the ins and outs of Indian cooking for yourself.

The selection of starters featuring the chilli paneer is a must.

Having made its name as a trendy Indian street food restaurant, Bundobust has fast garnered a cult following amongst locals for its enviable range of craft beers and ales, partnering exquisite Indian tapas.

A cool IPA and spicy Okra fries make for the perfect match in this boisterous and busy little gem.
