Classic Cocktails in Harrogate

Jan 12, 2018

Famous for its water it may be, but the spa town of Harrogate also has a superb range of cocktail bars for those fancying water of a different kind.

From bitter Old Fashioned to moreish Martinis, these are our favourite places for classic cocktails in Harrogate:

West Park Bar

As far as cocktails in Harrogate go, West Park’s bar is up there with the best of ’em.

Part of the spa town’s swanky West Park hotel, one of the premier spots for visiting folk to rest their heads, the downstairs bar is kitted out in bare light-fittings and plush blue leather.

There is a grand range of affordable cocktails and the bar staff will be all too willing to showcase their skills in creating something for your own tastes.

Fat Badger

Another ritzy cocktail haven hidden away in the grounds of a hotel. The stylish Fat Badger is part of the White Hart Hotel’s elegant dining room, but whether you’re eating or not, the cocktails alone make this a badger sett worth stopping in.

An expansive menu of fruity favourites that doesn’t break the bank? Count us in.

Porco Rosso

Another offshoot bar? Clearly, Harrogate has an obsession with multifunctioning cocktail hangouts.

Porco Rosso is the buzzing sister-space of the ever-popular Italian restaurant, Stuzzi’s.

A relatively new addition to Harrogate’s bar scene as a solo effort, Porco Rosso certainly wouldn’t look out of place on the streets of upmarket Soho, never mind a quiet town in Yorkshire.

Montey’s Rock Cafe

A Harrogate institution, classic Montey’s has served generations of the spa towns drinkers and revellers.

Tried and true, the atmospheric Montey’s has had decades to perfect its cocktail recipes and refine the menu.

More often than not there’s a live band on too. What more can you ask for?

William & Victoria

This classy bistro with its on-street seating and the upstairs restaurant seems straight out of a Parisian painting.

Whilst the restaurant is the main draw, the bar area put out some of the finest cocktails in Harrogate.

Though the purse-strings may need to be loosened ever more slightly for this one, the delicious beverages and fashionable-Euroesque atmosphere make W&V worth the expense.

Call it a treat.
